I would like to know the Salary,What they do on a day to day basis,Best Universities to study this profession,Is it fun and is this a good combo of electives to take during high school:Physics, Economics, IT? Thanks a lot I appreciate it!!!
And is it easy?
i’m a sophomore at the university of michigan and incase i dont get into business school, i’d double major in economics and industrial operations engineering. of course, i’ll be aiming for masters in both fields. is it a good alternative to an MBA?
what kind of jobs can you get?
is there a high demand for these types of majors?
what would be the difference between someone with M.S in econ + IOE and someone with an MBA? career-wise.
I really need the answer b/c it seems like economics and electrical are two completely different fields. I already graduated with economics but is planning on going into industrial engineer, not sure if they are two related major AND is the salary of industrial engi high??
THANKS ![]()
I just graduated with economics degree and planning on majoring in industrial engineer for my master b/c I was very much interested in the field. HOwever, after reading comments from webs, they r pretty bad (saying stuffs like Industrial Engineer r the lowest field of engineer, ppl who can not make it into mechanical or electrical switch to industrial engi b/c it is much easier, industrial engi r lazy ppl, industrial engi has one of the lowest salary of all engi fields) These comments scare me and now I might have a change of heart.
I need some clarify about industrial engi.
My major is industrial engineer, the advisor told me that among the most popular minors was one in economics. What is the benefits of a minor? Is a minor in economics along with industrial engineering a good choice? If not, what minor goes good with industrial engineering?

I am an undergraduate engineering student considering changing to economics. I was considering financial or industrial engineering for graduate school. It would be great if someone who knows about industrial engineering or someone who works in the field could tell me what a day in the life of an industrial engineer is like or what an individual could do with a an education in industrial engineering.
I am a junior double majoring in industrial engineering and economics at an elite U.S. university (top 15). My current GPA is 3.32 and I am afraid that it is not enough to get interviews from top consulting and banking firms. Can anyone tell me more about this topic?
How many more years would I have to pursue a BSc in BME at a community college if I have a degree in medicine and a BA in economics. I decided I would be better in engineering since I am more of a physics/math/conceptualizing space kind of a person, always have been since HS. Any addional info would be appreciated. Thanks
Or should I persue an MS in BME?
I also know that BME is a relatively new field with some of the newest graduates coming out in this field for the first time. Otherwise, I would have majored in it when I did pre-med in undergrad.
I can’t say I hate medicine in its entirety. But, always felt compelled to adding math/physics into its origin. Medical school is entirely based in memorization, with little to less concepulazation and problem solving (with the exception to physiology though I believe).
